I have made five trips to Tualatin Valley Wildlife Refuge since the seasonal trails opened on May 1st. As usual, it didn't disappoint. I have also made trips back to Fernhill Wetlands and Basket Slough Wildlife Refuge. The action was much slower at Fernhill and Basket Slough, but I was there later in the morning, and the sudden temperature change may have played a part in that.
At Tualatin I managed to get some great pictures of Bald Eagles and Osprey for the birds of prey. The Great Blue Heon's are very active, and I can't forget to mention there are babies geese and duck's everywhere. I haven't been to Tualatin in about four years. The changes that they have made have greatly enhanced the habitat. I see myself there quite a bit in the weeks to come.
