So far I have been out three times this year. It has included two new areas that I have not previously been to, yielding five new species of birds that I have not photographed before.  With these two new wetlands, the best surprises have been my old stomping grounds at Jackson Bottom Wetland Preserve. On my last trip there, a bald eagle flew within 20 yards of me and landed in a tree 30 yards away.

This just doesn't happen. Sooooo...........what's next???  And how do you top that?  The answer is you don't.  I have had many great experiences  since I decided to start taking pictures of birds, eagles and hawks.  The way I look at this is, if you don't put yourself out there, you will never give yourself a chance to see these incredible sights.  Not only do I get to take these pictures, but I also have a new partner in crime Nick, joining me on my adventures .  Nick and I work together and he started his photography journey in March of 2024.

On May 1st, Tualatin Valley Wildlife Refuge seasonal trails open up.  So after work on Wednesday May 1st, I will be heading  to the Refuge with the camera.  I am planning on heading there Saturday morning as well, if the weather is favorable.  It is not supposed to be, so I will have to wait and see.  I have not been there since they did a lot of work to restore and old creek that was changed over a hundred years ago for better irrigation for farming.  Now it has been restored to its original state and for the first time in over a hundred years, fish can now enter the wetlands from the Tualatin river. In the future, this Blog will be a short snippet of an upcoming quest for more bird photography and the stories that come from the trails.  Until then..........
